1. How to clean your air fryer exterior

Wipe down the exterior.

  • Use a damp, soapy cloth to wipe the whole exterior of your air fryer.

  • Get up and close with the control panel, and wipe the top, bottom, and sides.

Thoroughly dry the outside with a dry cloth to prevent water damage.

Tip: If there are any grooves, wrap the cloth around the end of a butter knife and gently insert it into the grooves to scrape clean.

2. How to clean your air fryer basket and tray

After each use (yes, each use!), empty the basket and tray of:

  • any leftover food,

  • oil,

  • or debris.

Why? This prevents burnt or stuck-on food from accumulating, making cleaning more difficult next time.

If the basket and tray are dishwasher safe - pop them in there.

Otherwise, hand wash with warm, soapy water.

  • Use a sponge or soft brush to scrub away any food and grease.

  • Use a kitchen decreaser on stubborn stains.

  • Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Tip: How to clean your air fryer with vinegar and baking soda

If the basket and tray are especially dirty or greasy, soak them in a mixture of:

  • hot water,

  • baking soda,

  • and dish soap for a few hours.

Scrub and rinse.

If there are still stubborn stains, add the following:

  • baking soda,

  • vinegar (let it bubble),

  • and hot water.

  • Insert the basket and tray into the air fryer.

  • Run the air fryer on its highest setting until the water boils.

  • Switch off, and let sit for 10 minutes.

Now clean as usual.

3. How to clean your air fryer interior

With your basket and tray drying, it's time to clean the inside of the air fryer.

Use a mixture of water and vinegar to wipe down the inside, including the heating element. The vinegar will neutralize any unpleasant odors.

Then, wipe with a clean, damp cloth.

The Bottom Line

Follow these steps regularly to keep your air fryer clean and in good working condition. To save time and effort, make it a standard practice to clean your air fryer after every use.
